NIMS Training - Mandatory

IMERT News - 8/1/2006

Homeland Security Presidential Directive 5 mandates that all emergency responders be trained in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) by October 1, 2006. This mandate affects all IMERT team members, especially those who have already completed IMERT Boot Camp.

In order to comply with this directive, IMERT is requiring that all members who have completed IMERT Boot Camp and are eligible to take IMERT call-time complete NIMS and submit proof of completion to the IMERT office by September 30, 2006.  IMERT members who have not attended Boot Camp by July 1, 2006, will be required to complete all of the general team training requirements (copy enclosed), including NIMS, before they become eligible to attend Boot Camp.  Members are also required to either submit copies of their valid medical licenses or pick a non-medical team position (see the enclosed form) before they become eligible to attend Boot Camp.

NIMS certificates must be received via mail or fax by this deadline in order for members to remain active on the IMERT team.

IMERT members who have not attended Boot Camp as of August 1, 2006, will be required to complete all of the general team training requirements, including NIMS, before they become eligible to attend Boot Camp.
