IMERT REQUIRED TRAINING FOR ALL MEMBERS

As part of the basic IMERT team member requirement, all team members must complete basic Incident Command courses (IS-100 & IS-200), a National Incident Management System course (IS-700), and a basic Weapons of Mass Destruction course (2 course options are available only 1 course is required).  You must complete all of these training requirements prior to taking IMERT Boot Camp.  Proof of completion should be submitted to the IMERT office.  These courses are available online, follow the links below.

 

National Incident Management System

Required NIMS

IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System, I-100

IS-200 Basic Incident Command System, I-200

Required ICS (you must complete both courses)

US Fire Administration, Emergency Response to Terrorism Self Study

Required WMD (only one WMD course required)

OR

TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute, Basic Concept for WMD Incidents

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE ABOVE AND ATTENDED IMERT BOOT CAMP

IMERT is requiring our training compliant members complete the following MedFilms Inc. courses. An online training program, Medfilms Inc. provides interactive, video training courses that are compelling, fast and motivating.  Completion of the Medfilms Inc., online courses is a requirement to maintain your position on the IMERT teams.  To access Medfilms Inc. you will be required to provide a self registration number and employee number.  These will both be provided to you after you have complete all your basic IMERT Training requirements and IMERT Boot Camp.

Biological Terrorism

This course covers how to recognize a BT disease outbreak, symptoms (anthrax, smallpox, plague, and botulism), modes of transmission, precautions, and how to reduce public anxiety. Winner of the AMA’s Surgeon General’s Award.

Radiological Terrorism

This course contains the only video segment in North America of the cesium 137 incident in Gioiana, Brazil. Puts risks in perspective and presents basic safety precautions. It also prepares healthcare workers to deal with the psychological consequences of a radiological incident. It explains the difference between exposure and contamination, the effects of radiation exposure, and safety procedures. Developed in cooperation with Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Threat Reduction Directorate.

Decontamination for Healthcare

This course is an introduction for those who may have to direct patients to decontaminate themselves or who may have to decontaminate non-ambulatory patients.

Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions 2007

Covers the changes in the CDC's 2007 Guideline for Isolation Precautions.  Also,

satisfies OSHA bloodborne pathogens training requirements.
