Online Training

IMERT REQUIRED TRAINING FOR ALL MEMBERS

As part of the basic IMERT team member requirement, all team members must complete the following:

  1. Basic Incident Command courses (IS-100 & IS-200) - within 90 days of applying
  2. National Incident Management System course (IS-700) - within 90 days of applying
  3. A Weapons of Mass Destruction course (2 course options are acceptable, only 1 course is required). 
  4. Attend the Deployment Operations Coruse

Proof of completion should be submitted to the IMERT office.  Some of these courses are available online, follow the links below.

 

National Incident Management System (NIMS)

IS-700 National Incident Management System, An Introduction

Required within 90 days of applying

Incident Command System (ICS)

IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System, I-100

IS-200 Basic Incident Command System, I-200

WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION REQUIREMENT

IMERT is requiring our training compliant members complete the following to fulfill your WMD requirement in order to be deployment ready:

  • MedFilms Inc. course
OR
  • Attend a Domestic Preparedness course which allows you to earn continuing education credit.

An online training program, Medfilms Inc. provides interactive, video training courses that are compelling, fast and motivating.  Completion of the Medfilms Inc., online courses is a requirement to maintain your position on the IMERT teams.  To access Medfilms Inc. you will be required to provide a self registration number and employee number.  These will both be provided to you upon request and when registering for the Deployment Operations Course.

Biological Terrorism

This course covers how to recognize a BT disease outbreak, symptoms (anthrax, smallpox, plague, and botulism), modes of transmission, precautions, and how to reduce public anxiety. Winner of the AMA’s Surgeon General’s Award.

Radiological Terrorism

This course contains the only video segment in North America of the cesium 137 incident in Gioiana, Brazil. Puts risks in perspective and presents basic safety precautions. It also prepares healthcare workers to deal with the psychological consequences of a radiological incident. It explains the difference between exposure and contamination, the effects of radiation exposure, and safety procedures. Developed in cooperation with Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Threat Reduction Directorate.

Decontamination for Healthcare

This course is an introduction for those who may have to direct patients to decontaminate themselves or who may have to decontaminate non-ambulatory patients.

Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions 2007

Covers the changes in the CDC's 2007 Guideline for Isolation Precautions.  Also,

satisfies OSHA bloodborne pathogens training requirements.

Coordinated Responder Information System (CRIS)

The CRIS server has been temporarily taken off-line for maintenance.  During this time, please e-mail your contact information preferences and changes to the IMERT office.

CRIS allows members to view their information as well as edit much of their personal data.  The CRIS program is web based and can be accessed at http://cris.imert.org. To login to the CRIS system you will need to provide your username and password.  Once you login to CRIS you can access your record by typing your CRIS ID number into the CRIS ID LOOKUP.  Your record will be displayed.  To make changes to your user record permanent you must click the green SAVE button.  There are two green save buttons located on the MAIN page of your user record.  If you have any questions or trouble using the CRIS system please contact Elizabeth Lee at lizl@imert.org or 630-495-6403 x202.
